With over 3,000 miles of Mediterranean coastline and 1,185 islands, Croatia is one of Europe’s top holiday destinations. The most popular destination for visitors to Croatia, the Istrian peninsula nestles at the north end of the Adriatic Sea.
Istria's 190 km coastline is a protected natural heritage site with 22 large islands. It offers crystal-clear sea, warm waters and spotless beaches, with excellent local restaurants plus watersport and boating activities, diving, horse riding, cycling, walking and quad biking. Our apartment is in Funtana village, in the important fishing and agricultural area on the west coast of Istria, between Vrsar and Porec. The coastline, with its bays and islands, is a haven for sailors, water sports enthusiasts and lovers of the sun and fine food. In fact Funtana boasts two of the best restaurants in the whole Istrian area, the Bare and More, both 10 minutes walk from the apartment.
Summer temperatures are generally 24 to 32 degrees and the sea is extremely clean and warm and Funtana was recently awarded the most important small tourist resort on the Adriatic! It is a small, friendly village laid out around the castle and the parish church, surrounded by hilly countryside covered with vineyards, olive groves, fields and forests ~ great cycling and walking country.
