Susan has over 30 years' experience in senior roles covering charity development and strategy, fundraising, marketing, publishing and event organising.
Susan spent the first 16 years of her career in B2B publishing. After deciding on a move to the charity sector, she read for a BSc (Hons) degree in Wildlife Conservation followed by an MSc in Tourism and Conservation. Since then she has worked in the not-for-profit sector for animal welfare and conservation organisations, successfully combining her editing and business skills with fundraising and development expertise.
Key skills:
Susan has carried out voluntary work for several charities, including fundraising, practical conservation work and helping at talks and on stands at events. She currently sub-edits a local monthly publication, the Village Magazine.
She supports several animal welfare and conservation organisations, is vegan and a keen organic gardener of flowers, fruit and vegetables. She enjoys garden tourism and rehomes rescued ex-battery hens, who are keen to undo all of her hard work in the garden.
She loves walking in the Sussex countryside with her dog and friends and independent travel to experience new landscapes, cultures and heritage. She has a strong interest in politics and current affairs, the cinema, skiing in winter and kayaking and boating in Chichester harbour in the summer.
